VOTING MEMBERSHIP
Open to paralegals/legal assistants, currently employed as
such by an attorney, law office or government agency on a
full or part-time basis or as a freelance paralegal.
Those who apply for this category must also have completed a
formal course in paralegal studies or have received
equivalent training.
STUDENT MEMBERSHIP
Open to anyone currently enrolled in a course of paralegal
studies leading to a certificate or to a deree and who is
not employed as a paralegal. This is a non-voting
category.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
Open to anyone who left the profession to pursue another
related or unrelated career, or anyone who has completed a
course of paralegal studies, but has not yet obtained a
position as a paralegal. This is a non-voting category.
CONTRIBUTING MEMBERSHIP
Open to any person, partnership, law firm, educational
institution or other entity interested in supporting the
Association and/or the paralegal profession. This is a
non-voting category.
Annual membership
renewal requirements must be met for each
membership category, subject to review by the Membership
Committee. |

About the Long Island Paralegal Association |

The Long Island
Paralegal Association was originally a chapter of the
Greater New York Paralegal Association, and was incorporated
as an independent association in 1983.
LIPA is a founding member of the Empire State Alliance of
Paralegal Association, formed in 1988.
LIPA is a
member of the National Federation of Paralegal Associations,
Inc. |
